Dr. Arijit Rumu Baruah, post graduate trainee from the first batch of Department of Surgery, JMC was awarded the prestigious:

Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons (IAGES) Award 2021-2022 for the Best Post-graduate Thesis (National Award), June 2022.

                 Department of Surgery, Jorhat Medical College along with the help of a group of interns and final year MBBS students made 800+ face shields for use by the healthcare workers during the first wave of COVID Pandemic in March 2020. The face shields were certified to be of good quality by the CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat.

                  Dr. Sadagar Deuri, Assistant Professor of Surgery along with Dr. Ganesan G. and Dr. Kunal   Goswami (both PGTs of Surgery) performed the first surgery of COVID Positive patient in JMCH. From Anaesthesia side, Dr. Bipul Deka was present. The OT was assisted by Ranjumoni Phukan (OT Staff Nurse).
