          The Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy, JMCH start functioning from 16th October 2009 with the joining of Dr. Krishna Talukdar as Assistant Professor. The OPD started from the same day in a tiny room with minimum facility, minimum furniture and nominal human resources in old JDS Civil Hospital Building. The department had provided treatment both OPD, IPD and emergency services with only  one Dermatologist until the next incumbent joined as Registrar on 14/12/2010.

       The Department is the only Govt Dermatological Centre which provides treatment to the needy     people of six crucial districts of upper Assam as well as part of neighboring state of Nagaland, the area potentially lack of Dermatological Services. The Department provides treatment for various dermatological diseases, sexually transmitted diseases and Hansen’s disease. It also provides service for various cosmetic problems.

      Now the Department is shifted to New Hospital building with OPD and indoor. The department has the facility of Minor OT/Procedure Room, Laser Therapy (EXCIMER & IPL) for different Dermatological Diseases.

       The Present strength of the department is 03 comprises one Professor and HoD, one Assistant Professor and one Registrar.
